Dummerweise benötigt man einerseits adäquate Suchmechanismen.

Wir brauchen also überall Kameras!

Fuck international law

It looks like we are heading towards new records in breaking international law these days.
The US still keep Guantanamo - that's something we almost got used to. The reason why the captives there remain is simply by definition of the US government (stating that they are enemy combattants caught during a war). Even though the people there are helt captive without having a trail or even the chance to get one. And the reason why is not that they do not have the right. Even the US supreme court states that this is illegal according to US law. The people there just do not GET the chance to have a fair trial and even the international red cross is not allowed to visit them. That's as if the US government said: "Fuck the supreme court and fuck international law!". Well, we've heard some voices (from the US) stating that the US acts like a banana republic after the first time George W. Bush was declared to the president elected by a minority of votes... but OK, let's leave the inmates of Guantanamo, because the do have something which hundreds of people in Lebanon already lost: Their life!

On the Lebanon it's Israel that took the opportunity after the kidnapping of 3 soldiers to start an "armed conflict", perfectly backed up by the US (which managed to protect Israel from any conviction by the UN security council and made sure that Israel got a lot of time to do what they wanted without any reaction from the UN). Israel claims to be perfectly nice and harmless, telling the Lebanese that they should leave their houses, because otherwise they will die in there. Of course Israel claims that Hisbolla is launching rockets from residential areas - which may even be correct in many case. But what about the Lebanese electrical plants in the north and what about the main roads fugitives tried to use to escape the bombings? What about the UN observers killed by the Israelean forces - in a place that was known to Israel for a long time. Considering that Israel has one of the best equipped army in this region with precise weapons (just as the US that claimed to be able to do surgical operations during the Gulf wars) the explanation that this was an "accident" is pretty weak. Also neglecting the UN request to be involved in the investigation makes the whole event even more suspicious.

But - fuck the international law - Hisbolla keeps on firing rockets (and thus taking an important role in this conflict) and Israel keeps on bombing the Lebanon back to middle ages - mainly killing uninvolved civilians and destroying infrastructure not frequented by Hisbolla. Is this a part of the "war against terrorism"?
Is this "self defense"? This is a bit hard to believe when counting the civil "casualties". Israel has crossed the line and not only entered Lebanon, but also terrorism by systematically killing civilians. Good or bad - there's not too much difference to be seen between Hisbolla and Israel. None of the two can win this conflict. But Israel is much more efficient than Hisbolla in killing people that just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. And Israel has George W. Bush...

So, what's the consequence? Does it pay of to fuck international law?
Most probably not. Rather the opposite. Doing so is like glueing a "Kick me" paper on the most sensitive parts of your body. It's just an invitation to those who kick from behind and you cannot defeat, because they run faster than you can. The whole story about "war against terror" is just paying off for the ones who sell arms and material used in conficts. Terrorism is not defeated by injustice.

"Krieg ist immer ..."

... sagte schon Charley's Vater.

"Just find me a good reason to bomb Iran."

("It has to sound real, but it does not have to be!")
We have left the age of reason and entered the age of media. Bush's popularity is definately not at an all-time high. He failed to bring peace to Iraq (after setting it to fire) and now it looks like he needs something different. A new battlefield to prove power and determination.

Stamina and farsightedness are not the typical attributes of heros in Hollywood action pictures... and it's not what voters are looking for. They like to see a massive use of forces that put an end to things quickly ("If we want it, we get it - no matter the cost!").

Hey, this Iranian president and the nuclear program are exactly the targets, Bush needs right now to save the world (= his popularity) for the second time! More terror afterwards? Fine! Another chance to restrict civil rights! Actually one might get the impression that Bush and Ahmadinedschad need each other more than anybody else in the world. Life would be sooo bad without enemies!

... over the land of imprisoned and the home of the slaves ...

Ok, maybe this is a little bit exagerated when talking about the USA, but it appears like the current US administration is doing all they can to create F.U.D. It's a strange feeling to use this in the context of the US administration, but it's exactly the impression when looking at the USA nowadays. And the more is being done to make restrictions of civil rights possible, the more the outside world wonders what is the real goal behind all this. Maybe it's really just this: More money and influence for the Bush clan and their friends.

If it's just that, I would expect that there has already been enough F.U.D. created since (or including) 9/11, but it appears that it does not stop. The presidents Dick & Donald obviously have a long TODO list and heaven knows if they are close to the end or only halfway through. When will it stop?

It might be that the US citizens still need some time to digest 9/11. It was a hard crash from up there in the dreamy clouds of being invincible down to the unfriendly ground of being ripped into the heart of their capital. Instead of waking up the USA still appears to be stunned, swinging a baseball club without exactly knowing what they want to hit. I am sure the US administration is not stunned at all, but they use this feeling and try to keep it up as long as possible. It gives them so much opportunity to do things former administrations would never have dared.

Have a look at Guantanamo: Would it have been possible to keep so many people inside a camp for such a long time without any chance to have a legal trial? Denying them any legal support? Putting all into the hands of the US army? Claiming that this camp is only under the control of the presidents and no other US institution can interfer?
It's funny to hear that the US administration doubts that the president of Belarus Lukaschenko will allow a fair election. The kind of democracy the USA is developing is also rather a "kind of" - but not much more. Of course the changes are mostly a bit more subtle, less obvious. But look again at Guantanamo: What kind of democracy does allow its president to stand outside the constitution?

And do we see significent opposition against movements like this? Do the masses of US citizens stand up and say "Stop!". Sorry... they are either too busy with keeping their standard of living or too afraid to be punched down for questioning the "war against terror" (aka "war against civil rights and democracy"). The system (of F.U.D.) works! God bless America! Let's hope that the blessing will finally wake them up...
