We have left the age of reason and entered the age of media. Bush's popularity is definately not at an all-time high. He failed to bring peace to Iraq (after setting it to fire) and now it looks like he needs something different. A new battlefield to prove power and determination.
Stamina and farsightedness are not the typical attributes of heros in Hollywood action pictures... and it's not what voters are looking for. They like to see a massive use of forces that put an end to things quickly ("If we want it, we get it - no matter the cost!").
Hey, this Iranian president and the nuclear program are exactly the targets, Bush needs right now to save the world (= his popularity) for the second time! More terror afterwards? Fine! Another chance to restrict civil rights! Actually one might get the impression that Bush and Ahmadinedschad need each other more than anybody else in the world. Life would be sooo bad without enemies!
